- variableThe name of the variable that this object applies to
C++ Type:AuxVariableName
Controllable:No
Description:The name of the variable that this object applies to
CellInstanceAux
Display the OpenMC cell Instance mapped to each MOOSE element
Description
Displays the OpenMC cell instance mapped to the MOOSE elements, showing all cells which either (i) receive multiphysics feedback or (ii) send a cell tally to MOOSE. This auxkernel is automatically added to all OpenMC wrappings which involve some sort of multiphysics feedback to cells and/or cell tallies, so you do not need to add it yourself. The output variable is named cell_instance
.
If there are no distributed cells in your OpenMC geometry, then the instance for every cell is zero. But if you have distributed cells such as for problems with lattices or if you repeat the same universe multiple places throughout the geometry, then this auxiliary kernel can be used to visualize the cell instance that maps to each MOOSE element.
If a MOOSE element did not map at all to an OpenMC cell, then this auxiliary kernel returns .
Example Input Syntax
As an example, the cell_instance
auxiliary kernel will extract the OpenMC cell instance and map it to the MOOSE elements corresponding to each OpenMC cell.

(test/tests/neutronics/feedback/lattice/openmc.i)This particular OpenMC geometry repeats the same universe several times throughout the geometry, so the instance for a particular cell will range from 0 to , where is the number of times the cell is repeated through the geometry.
Input Parameters
- blockThe list of blocks (ids or names) that this object will be applied
C++ Type:std::vector<SubdomainName>
Controllable:No
Description:The list of blocks (ids or names) that this object will be applied
- boundaryThe list of boundaries (ids or names) from the mesh where this object applies
C++ Type:std::vector<BoundaryName>
Controllable:No
Description:The list of boundaries (ids or names) from the mesh where this object applies
- check_boundary_restrictedTrueWhether to check for multiple element sides on the boundary in the case of a boundary restricted, element aux variable. Setting this to false will allow contribution to a single element's elemental value(s) from multiple boundary sides on the same element (example: when the restricted boundary exists on two or more sides of an element, such as at a corner of a mesh
Default:True
C++ Type:bool
Controllable:No
